Also on the authority of 'Umar, radiyallahu 'anhu, who said:
"While we were one day sitting with the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, there appeared before us a man dressed in extremely white clothes and with very black hair. No traces of journeying were visible on him, and none of us knew him.
He sat down close by the Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, rested his knee against his thighs, and said, O Muhammad! Inform me about Islam." Said the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, "Islam is that you should testify that there is no deity save Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger, that you should perform salah (ritual prayer), pay the zakah, fast during Ramadan, and perform Hajj (pilgrimage) to the House (the Ka'bah at Makkah), if you can find a way to it (or find the means for making the journey to it)." Said he (the man), "You have spoken truly."
We were astonished at his thus questioning him and telling him that he was right, but he went on to say, "Inform me about iman (faith)." He (the Messenger of Allah) answered, "It is that you believe in Allah and His angels and His Books and His Messengers and in the Last Day, and in fate (qadar), both in its good and in its evil aspects." He said, "You have spoken truly."
Then he (the man) said, "Inform me about Ihsan." He (the Messenger of Allah) answered, " It is that you should serve Allah as though you could see Him, for though you cannot see Him yet He sees you." He said, "Inform me about the Hour." He (the Messenger of Allah) said, "About that the one questioned knows no more than the questioner." So he said, "Well, inform me about the signs thereof (i.e. of its coming)." Said he, "They are that the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress, that you will see the barefooted ones, the naked, the destitute, the herdsmen of the sheep (competing with each other) in raising lofty buildings." Thereupon the man went off.
I waited a while, and then he (the Messenger of Allah) said, "O 'Umar, do you know who that questioner was?" I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know better." He said, "That was Jibril. He came to teach you your religion.""

1) The position of this hadith - Is consider as mother to other hadiths
Contain the explanation of Din in total.

2) Islam - Contain Ibadah badani/ lisani/ maali/ badani wa maali.

3) Iman - origin of iman/ iman and islam/ qaul - deed is also consider as a part of iman.

iman to qadho’ dan qadar………..

4) To distinguish between the nature of God to the nature of being… example. The Knowledge of Allah…

5) The sign of Qiamat (doomsday)..

6) The Attributes of Jilbril (Ruh Al-Amiin) : The original look - 2 Times
- the third year of being appointed as a rasul - In the sky
- During isra’ and mi’raj - having six hundreds wing.

Lessons that can be take from the Hadith:
  • Islam is the religion that originate from Allah. Therfore it is call the religion of samawie or having the
Rabbaanie nature, it is based on the wahyu from the sky  which is brought down by the angel Jibril. It is not a religion that is created from the shallow mind of a human, thus making it is suitable for all peoples in everyplace and time.
  • This hadith explains the three pillars of the religion, the Islamic tenets, tenets of faith and ehsan. The Islamic tenets is consist of five things which are reciting the two kalimah syahadah, prayed five time a day, paying zakat, fasting in Ramadan and the pilgrimage in Baitullahilharam The tenets of faith consist of six things which are the trust and believe to Allah, the angels, All the four scriptures(kitab) , the Rasuls, the last day (Qiamat) and the believe in Qadar whether good and bad come from Allah.
    • The perfection of a mukmin will only be reach when he or she fulfill all the requirement in the Islamic tenets, fulfilling the requirement in the tenets of faith and the ehsan. Islam is not perfect, if only taken in terms of appearance only, or only inner or spiritual aspect alone. Perfection of Islam will only be revealed when practiced as a whole.
    • The knowledge of Islam must be learn with the correct teacher and base on the correct guidance. It cannot be learn through dreams and such.
    • A student must have a high Manners as Gabriel did when he came to Prophet Muhammad when to ask a few questions about religion.Similarly, a teacher must also have a high manners. He should only teach or answer questions that are known and leave what he did not know. That is a sign of pious scholars and wise men.
    • Anyone who claims to know when there Judgement or knowledge of ghaib, he is a big liar. Although the date of Judgement is not known, there are signs that show that it is near, among the event that occurred is a mother gave birth to her master or her own boss, being a slave to his son. Another events that will occur at the end of era is when the poor people turn into the wealthy.
